DESCRIPTION: * WHAT...Snow expected. Total snow accumulations between 2 and 7 inches. Winds gusting as high as 35 mph. * WHERE...In New York, Broome, Chenango, and Madison Counties. In Pennsylvania, Bradford County. * WHEN...Until 7 PM EST Monday. * IMPACTS...Travel could be very difficult for some areas. The hazardous conditions could impact the Monday morning commute. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Gusty north-northwest winds increase overnight and persist into Monday morning, which could reduce visibilities due to blowing and drifting snow. Winds gusting as high as 35 mph through the day on Monday.

A nimbostratus cloud is similar to a stratus cloud in its formless,
smooth appearance. However, a nimbostratus cloud is darker than a stratus cloud,
because it is thicker.
Unlike a stratus cloud, a nimbostratus cloud typically brings with it the threat
of moderate to heavy precipitation. In some cases, the precipitation may evaporate
before reaching the ground, a phenomenon known as virga.

Precipitation in the form of water droplets is called rain.
