DESCRIPTION: FRWAMA THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN AMARILLO HAS ISSUED A FIRE WARNING AT THE REQUEST OF DEAF SMITH COUNTY OFFICE OF EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT FOR NORTHERN DEAF SMITH COUNTY. * AT 314 PM CST...A DANGEROUS WILDFIRE WAS LOCATED 8 MILES EAST OF SIMMS...OR 13 MILES SOUTHWEST OF VEGA...MOVING RAPIDLY NORTHEAST AT 3 TO 5 MPH. * AREAS IMPACTED... BETWEEN STATE HIGHWAY 214 AND HIGHWAY 385. * ADDITIONAL INFORMATION...SMOKE AND FIRE WILL PRESENT A THREAT TO LIFE AND PROPERTY.

A nimbostratus cloud is similar to a stratus cloud in its formless,
smooth appearance. However, a nimbostratus cloud is darker than a stratus cloud,
because it is thicker.
Unlike a stratus cloud, a nimbostratus cloud typically brings with it the threat
of moderate to heavy precipitation. In some cases, the precipitation may evaporate
before reaching the ground, a phenomenon known as virga.

Precipitation in the form of water droplets is called rain.

an observable effect on rainfall, due to an effect called the urban heat island.
Compared to upwind, monthly rainfall between twenty and forty miles downwind of
cities is 30% greater.
